Rhodochrosite has been known as Inca Rose, legend has it that the Incas former kings and queens blood coloured the stone.
It is made up of magnesium carbonate and gets its beautiful colouring from manganese, its name is from the Greek ‘rose coloured’ It is Argentina's national gem stone and where it is mined today, but it was first discovered in Ethiopia.
The deeper the pink/red colour the rarer the stone.
The beautiful gemmy pink makes this a crystal to fall in love with, in itself it is the stone of love, it aids with self worth and the dissolving of emotional wounds, allowing us to release outdated blocks to happiness and find emotional balance and forgotten gifts.
