Rhodochrosite has been known as Inca Rose, legend had it that the Incas former kings and queens blood coloured the stone, it is made up of magnesium carbonate and gets it’s beautiful colouring from manganese, it’s name is from the Greek ‘rose coloured’ It is Argentina's national gem stone and where it is mined today, but it was first discovered in Ethiopia.
