Amazonite has been cut into beads and jewelry from Mesopotamian times, also used in amulets and tablets, due to its soft nature, it's easy to carve into, famously used in Egypt’s funerary text or Book of the Dead.
It is believed to have adorned the shields of the Amazonians, a formidable tribe of female warriors thought to live in the 10th century B.C. also used medicinally to heal wounds and illnesses of all kinds.
Found among Tutankhamen’s treasures was a scarab ring made from the green stone.
